So Long 2020 and Hello 2021

I think people will look back on 2020 and remember just how much it sucked.  I can only speak for myself.  This year I received a notice of layoff (my second one in 23 years of commercial flying).  I got recalled- that's a good thing- but took a downgrade and pay cut to keep flying.  I can't wait to start a new and hopefully better year.

Last year at this time I reflected on the 2019 year and talked about the good, the bad and the ugly.  This year I want to talk about where things are going and what changes may be on the horizon.

As a small online store, I am still very committed to carrying Canadian made wet shaving supplies.  There will be a continued focus on quality rather than quantity.  There are so many soap makers out there and while we want to support everyone, we want to support the best of the best.  Your experience is very important to me and I don't want to let you down. I don't necessarily carry the popular soaps out there.  It's not necessarily on purpose- but I really I like finding those hidden gems and I hope you will to.  If you think we should carry a particular artisan, consider emailing them- let them know that you think their products would be a good fit for our store.  You never know!

One big change that will be coming is that I will be eventually switching to thank you notes that I have personally written but they will be printed.  I will do my best to personalize things as much as possible.  I lost count but this year alone I will have written over 1000 personalized notes. My customers mean the world to me and this was a very difficult decision to make.  I love forming that connection but I subsequently ended up with an injury and the physiotherapist thinks this is one of the culprits.  I hope this doesn't take away from your experience.   However, the pain and discomfort - means that I need to find a suitable substitution.

I have two collaborations on the horizon.  I have one with MacDuff's that I am really excited for.  I also have one starting with Purely Skinful.  These collaborations are very important to me.  Collaborations allow me to build strong relationships with the artisans and helps me learn more about the soap making process.  They do all the heavy lifting and help take my dreams and turn them into reality.

So let's wrap up this year and look to a bright future.  I want to with everyone all the best this holiday season.  May all your shaves be smooth.
